Wines from Weingut Fuchs

Wine—the enjoyable beverage made from fermented grape juice—has a tradition spanning thousands of years. As a drink of pleasure, wine holds a place of high esteem and is one of the cornerstones of German and European food culture.

Winemaking Tradition since 1626

The Fuchs Wine Estate was founded in 1626. Our wines are traditionally produced in Germany, in the wine-growing regions of Rheinhessen and the Palatinate.

Centuries-old tradition and modern techniques go hand in hand in winemaking. Knowledge accumulated over generations about the interaction of climate, soils, and grapevines is combined with contemporary vineyard and cellar practices to produce excellent wines.

Wines for Every Taste

An Exceptionally Wide Range of Grape Varieties

There are mainstream grape varieties grown by almost every winery. Beyond these, at Weingut Fuchs you will find a wide selection of highly interesting niche varieties that are particularly appreciated by connoisseurs and bring diversity to the world of wine flavours. Discover new horizons of enjoyment and be surprised by wonderful wines beyond the mainstream.

Among both white and red grape varieties (from which rosé wines are also produced), you will find many classics as well as rarities. The aromatic spectrum ranges from delicately fruity to wines with an intense bouquet.

Well-Known Grape Varieties

  • Riesling, the best-known German white grape variety
  • Pinot Noir, the classic German red grape variety
  • Green Silvaner, an old German white grape variety with mild acidity
  • Pinot Gris, a classic Burgundy variety formerly known as Rulaender in Germany
  • Dornfelder, the best-known German new red wine cross

Rarely Cultivated Grape Varieties

  • Moscato Giallo, a highly aromatic historic white grape variety
  • Huxel, a particularly fruity white grape variety capable of reaching high must weights
  • Regent, a fruity, fungus-resistant red wine cross
  • Gewuerztraminer, an old and intensely spicy white grape variety
  • Dunkelfelder, a particularly fruity and deeply coloured red wine cross

At the top right of the page you will find a drop-down menu listing all grape varieties.

Wines from Dry to Noble Sweetness

Whether a wine is bottled dry or sweet does not depend on its grape variety or colour, but on the style of vinification and the resulting level of residual sugar.

At Weingut Fuchs you will find an especially wide range of styles: the flavour spectrum extends from bone-dry to noble sweetness:

  • Dry wines: No or hardly perceptible residual sweetness of 0–9 g/l.
  • Semi-dry wines: Light, subtle residual sweetness of 9–18 g/l.
  • Off-dry wines: light, subtle residual sweetness. The term “off-dry” is often used as a synonym for “semi-dry”, but is not legally defined and is also used for wines that taste sweeter than semi-dry.
  • Semi-sweet wines: clearly perceptible residual sweetness up to a maximum of 45 g/l.
  • Sweet wines: clearly perceptible sweetness of more than 45 g/l.
  • Wines of noble sweetness: intensely sweet wines made from very ripe grapes with particularly high must weights, usually German quality wines with special distinction such as Auslese, Beerenauslese, and Trockenbeerenauslese.

Whether dry or sweet, red, rosé, or white: almost any wine can accompany food – what matters most is the dish itself and, above all, your personal preferences.

Experimenting with wine and food pairing is great fun, especially when enjoyed in good company over a fine meal with several wines.
