Red Wine, Dry or Sweet

Red wines offer many opportunities for enjoyment: with food, in good company, as a digestif or simply on their own for pure pleasure. Their attractive colour spectrum ranges from ruby red to deep, dark red.
How Red Wines Taste
In terms of flavour, red wines generally follow two distinct styles: fruit-focused, with clear fruit and berry notes, or tannin-focused, with ripe tannins and, in some cases, a subtle hint of oak.
When it comes to sweetness, you can also choose the style that suits your taste best. In our assortment you will find red wines from completely dry to wines of noble sweetness:
- Dry: no or hardly any perceptible sweetness
- Off-dry: a very subtle touch of sweetness
- Medium-sweet: light, pleasant sweetness, residual sugar up to a maximum of 45 g/l
- Sweet: pronounced sweetness, residual sugar from 45 g/l
- Wines of noble sweetness: very pronounced sweetness from highly ripe grapes in dessert wines
Flavour Diversity in Red Wine From Dry to Sweet

Dry and Off-Dry Red Wines
The dry and off-dry red wines are particularly well suited as companions to food. They harmonise with roast and game dishes, lamb, smoked and braised foods, Mediterranean cuisine as well as with cheese, ham or a cold supper.
Here you will find not only single-varietal wines, but also various cuvées composed from several grape varieties with a focus on flavour.
Semi-Sweet and Sweet Red Wines
Sweet red wines are the right category for you if you prefer reds that are not so dry. Semi-sweet and sweet red wines are wonderful stand-alone drinks. With food, they pair particularly well with boldly spiced dishes.
Wines of Noble Sweetness · Red Dessert Wines
Red wines of noble sweetness are special rarities. These top-quality wines can only be harvested in years with optimal weather, growth and ripening conditions.

Histamine-Certified Red Wines
As a special service for connoisseurs who suffer from histamine intolerance, we offer red wines with specific histamine analyses. If you experience issues with histamines, you can use the analysis values to decide whether these wines are suitable for you.
Serving Temperature for Red Wines
The often recommended “room temperature” is far too warm for red wine. We recommend around 16–18º C as the ideal drinking temperature for dry and off-dry red wines. Semi-sweet and sweet red wines, on the other hand, also tolerate slight chilling. Your personal taste is decisive!
Which Red Wine Grape Varieties Are There?

on Moscato Rosa
Our range of grape varieties is extensive: you will find many fruit-forward and some tannin-focused red wine varieties, and as a special highlight even a floral-spicy red bouquet variety, the rarely cultivated Moscato Rosa.
Red Wine Classics and Red Wine Rarities
Across all red wine categories you will find different grape varieties. Alongside classic and well-known varieties such as Spätburgunder, Merlot or Portugieser, the red wine range also includes several rarely cultivated varieties such as Pinot Meunier or Dunkelfelder, offering welcome variety and distinctive tasting experiences when enjoying red wine.
